BGRA Full-time Travel Program

(Ages 10-14)

Tryout Information for 2012 Season

Buffalo Grove residents and neighboring communities are eligible to try out for the BGRA Full-time Travel Program.  Residents of all other towns are not eligible.  The BGRA will have final approval of all players.  Players playing on our Full Time Travel Teams will not be eligible to play in our house league program.  The BGRA will still continue to run the house league travel program, by entering teams into the NSBL travel program for Farm-Palomino leagues (as we’ve done in the past).

Full-time Travel Program:

• The season (including tournaments) will conclude in mid July.  We expect any child who makes the team, to be fully committed and make it their priority. You will NOT be allowed to play on another travel team, while the MSBL season is in progress.
• The teams will be entered into the MSBL.
• Each team will be managed by a paid coach.  Once the teams have been selected, a first base coach, scorekeeper/business manager will be chosen by the manager and BGRA.
• The fees will be $900 per player.  This fee will include tournaments, uniforms, fields, umpires, indoor training (beginning in January), and baseball pullover.

Age qualifications:

We encourage, but will not pay for, the U10 & U12 teams to enter and play at Cooperstown.  That decision will be made by the parents and manager of those teams, once they are selected.

We encourage, but will not pay for, the U11, U13 & U14 teams to enter and play in an out-of-state tournament.  That decision will be made by the parents and manager of those teams, once they are selected.

If in the evaluator's opinion, there are enough travel caliber players for two teams, the BGRA has the flexibility to have two teams. If however, there are not enough travel caliber players, the BGRA has the right to eliminate that age group.

We encourage everyone to sign up for the house league; if you are selected to a full time travel team, those funds will be deducted from your travel fee.

Tryout Details:

• Each age group has two tryout dates - you are encouraged to attend both.
• There is no fee to try out.
• Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time to sign-in.
  
• Wear full baseball attire.
