BGRA House Travel Program

BGRA Travel Players will be selected for ages 8-14, as determined by board policies.  Players chosen to play on these teams must make a substantial commitment of time to the travel team.  The fee for the travel season will be $250 for all ages.

Players cannot be playing on another travel team.  Only players playing in our current house league are eligible to tryout.  Open tryouts will be held in late April, as shown below, and will be conducted with the help of impartial members of the staff of Joy of the Game.  Players are selected based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, level of performance, attitude, availability, input from Joy of The Game staff, and travel managers prerogative.  The BGRA board has final approval of all players’ selections.

Players must pre-register for the tryout (CLICK HERE); we cannot guarantee your child a tryout without being pre-registered.  There will be a fee of $10 dollars to cover the costs of using outside evaluators.  Players will receive a numbered t-shirt to wear for tryouts (which they will keep).

There will be two days of tryouts, one day for hitting and pitching (indoor at Joy of the Game in Buffalo Grove).  There will be one day outside for infield/outfield and more.  The numbered t-shirt must be worn both days.

Certain age groups will have two teams and others one (see below for details).  This was based on the size, talent and competitive nature of the different age groups.  Teams will be comprised of anywhere between 12-15 players per team.

Tryout Policies:

1. It is mandatory that you pre-register (CLICK HERE); we cannot guarantee your child a tryout without being pre-registered.
2. Players must arrive 10 minutes early to check in and warm up.
3. Selected players will be posted on the BGRA website after 6pm on Tuesday following their tryout.
4. Parents are not allowed to stay and watch the tryouts.
5. Check the website for any changes/cancellations due to weather. 
6. It is mandatory that any vacation/overnight camp dates are listed on the registration form.  Not doing so could result in that child not being eligible for tryouts next year.
7. If your child’s birthday is between May and August, he/she will be eligible to try out for his/her age group or the year below.  Please designate which team you’re trying out for.
